Jim Boeheim of Syracuse recently won his 900th ball game all at the same school. One other person has accomplished this feat, and he is Mike Kryzewski of Duke. Mike, however, won 73 games at Army before going to Duke. While at Duke, Mike had Bob Knight on the same staff with him at one time. However, this blog is more about Coach Boeheim. He has won 9 Big East regular season titles and 5 tournament titles. More amazing is the fact that he has been in 4 final fours in four different decades. One of those final fours was the IU match up in which Keith Smart hit the winning field goal. Jim has won these 900+ games with very little controversy which cannot be said about some of the other coaches on the top-ten win list. You will seldom see Coach Boeheim lose his cool and that is probably why he has been at the same school for all these years. Both Boeheim and Kryzewski are members of the NCAA Basketball Hall of Fame. At the present time, it appears that Jim nor Mike have any urges to retire any time soon. This season Syracuse and Wichita State have gone the longest without losing one ball game. Good Luck in the NCAA Coach Boeheim.
