Trump, GOP are ruining our country

Posted on

first_imgCategories: Letters to the Editor, Opinion This assault to cover up corruption comes with the support of an equally corrupt Republican Congress and spineless party leadership, which is bereft of any notion of public trust. So fire someone, and let this nation decide whether we are worthy of democracy or would prefer the corruption of King Trump. Let our “friends,” the Russians, continue their collusion. This is itself an act of treason, my friends. Note that to date no action has been taken by Congress or Trump to address Russian cyberhacking and penetration of U.S. cyberspace.Trump is a racist with no patriotism (Remember his rant on a Gold Star mother whose son was killed in Iraq) who now calls for a military parade — just like Putin or any other tin pot despot. But there’s no call for any action on national security (CIA, NSA, FBI, etc.), and Trump has mocked those who have rendered service in defense of this nation. This is an abject betrayal of every American who values decency and truth from his government instead of the cover-up tactics, lies and other efforts to twist and polarize the truth that have discredited us globally.Save our nation. Vote out every Trump Republican stooge in Congress this November.George W. Our constitutional democracy is under assault from “King” Trump and his corrupt minions, who question the integrity, purpose and dedication to the rule of law of the very government institutions responsible for the protection, safety and security of the United States.last_img read more

Allianz Indonesia expands digital services as more people stay home

Posted on

first_imgInsurance provider PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia launched an end-to-end digital service on Wednesday to sell its products following a recent Financial Services Authority (OJK) announcement allowing digital insurance marketing.Allianz Life Indonesia country manager and president director Joos Louwerier said the service sought to improve customers’ experiences at a time when face-to-face meetings between insurance agents and clients had been limited because of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).“Now, with the support of the OJK, Allianz is even more committed to providing insurance protection through an easy and trusted process by launching a new innovation today: Allianz eAZy Cover,” Joos said. In a May 29 press release, the OJK announced that it had revised the guidelines for the marketing of investment-linked insurance packages, better known as unit links. The agency allowed unit links to be marketed and purchased online. Direct meetings could be replaced with video calls and in-person signatures with e-signatures. About 93 percent of Allianz Life Indonesia’s premiums were dominated by unit links during the first quarter of the year, said chief marketing officer Karin Zulkarnaen. The company noted that the product was in great demand, especially for customers from its bank partners. “Actually, digital strategies are not anything new for Allianz,” Allianz Life Indonesia chief of partnership distribution Bianto Surodjo said. “This is part of our long-term strategy.” One of the company’s digital initiatives is the eAZy Claim app, which aims to accelerate the processing of health insurance claims. Additionally, the eAZY Med app, made in partnership with online healthcare platform Halodoc, provides clients with teleconsultation services and assists with online medical purchases.  Growing awareness of health and the need for protection as a result of the upheavals experienced during the pandemic may lead to a growing demand for insurance, Allianz Life Indonesia chief agency officer Ginawati Djuandi noted. According to data from research company Nielsen, in the first quarter of this year, 23 percent of Indonesian consumers stated that they were concerned about their health, a significant increase from the 14 percent recorded in the fourth quarter of last year. “From those studies, we can see that there is demand for added protection from the Indonesian public,” Ginawati said. The OJK press release stated that the recent regulation was issued to maintain the performance and stability of the insurance industry amid a weakened pandemic economy. However, the adjustment to the marketing of unit links is only temporary. It was implemented on May 27 and will last until the COVID-19 state of emergency is lifted.Topics :last_img read more

White House slams WHO over criticism of push for COVID-19 vaccine

first_imgTopics : US Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn told the Financial Times in an interview published on Sunday that the FDA was prepared to authorize a coronavirus vaccine before late-stage Phase Three clinical trials were complete, as long as officials are convinced that the benefits outweigh the risks. On Monday, World Health Organization officials said moving too quickly to make a vaccine widely available could pose risks.”If you move too quickly to vaccinate … millions of people, you may miss certain adverse effects,” said Mike Ryan, the head of WHO’s emergencies program.WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan said the FDA’s approach was “not something that you do very lightly.” She said WHO’s preferred approach would be to have a full set of data which could be used for the pre-qualification of vaccines.President Donald Trump has been critical of the WHO’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, accusing it of being too focused on China and issuing bad advice. In May, Trump announced the United States was cutting ties to the organization.Phase Three trials, in which randomized patients are treated with a drug or a placebo without participants or doctors knowing which group they were in, are considered the gold standard for clinical trials. The White House on Tuesday pushed back on concerns expressed by the World Health Organization after a US health official said a coronavirus vaccine might be approved without completing full trials.”The United States will continue to engage our international partners to ensure we defeat this virus, but we will not be constrained by multilateral organizations influenced by the corrupt World Health Organization and China,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement.”This President will spare no expense to ensure that any new vaccine maintains our own FDA’s gold standard for safety and efficacy, is thoroughly tested, and saves lives,” he said.last_img read more
