A judge has said €855 compensation offered to a woman hit by a bottle during a pub row is not enough. The innocent woman, who was caught in the crossfire, was struck by a bottle thrown by Barry Gildea during a fight at the Cavern Bar in Letterkenny on St Patrick’s Day.Gildea, of Correnagh, Letterkenny appeared in court to pay more compensation to the woman for her injuries. However after reading the about the injuries suffered by the young woman, Judge Paul Kelly said the compensation offered was simply not enough. The court heard that when arrested, Gildea (20), was very abusive and spat on the shirt of a Gardai.Solicitor Kieran Dillon said he appreciated the seriousness of the case but that his client simply did not have a lot of funds. He suspected the compensation money came from family because he was only on €100 a week jobseeker’s allowance.Judge Kelly said that for a man who engaged in such behaviour, he received a positive report from the probation services. The court also said Gildea has sent Garda Regan €75 to have his shirt cleaned.Judge Kelly ordered Gildea to do 120 hrs community service in lieu of six months in jail and also 40 hours community service on Garda Regan in lieu of two months in jail.Judge Kelly told the accused “What you did that night had a sig impact on this young lady and has had a very severe affect on her. In other circumstances you might be going to prison.“Facts are you didn’t set out to throw the bottle at this young lady but it did have severe consequences. The probation services said you are otherwise of good character.“Your drinking habits has brought you to the brink of jail. I have also taken int account your extremely limited resources.“If you appear before me on similar matters I will not be dealing with it by means of community service. An apology is cold comfort to this lady and I hope she recovers from this,” he said.JUDGE SAYS COMPO FOR WOMAN INJURED IN BAR ROW IS NOT ENOUGH was last modified: October 17th, 2013 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Barry GildeabottlecourtrowThe Cavern
Age and Opportunity Ireland and Go for Life have been providing opportunities for our older population to participate in sport and physical activity games for the past decade and have again developed an adapted games programme for older adults. With the support of the Donegal Sports Partnership and the Health Promotion Department of the HSE the first ever leader training for Go for Life Games was delivered in the Greencastle Community Centre today Wednesday by Go for Life Senior Tutor Frank Fahey.Thirty six leaders participated in the practical games training from community groups from Muff, Moville, Malin, Greencastle, Clonmany and Culdaff and these groups will now look to develop participation in their own communities. The game names of Flisk, Lobbers and Scidil may not be familiar to people in Donegal but through the work of the support agencies it is hoped that through time many of our older population will have an awareness of this exciting games programme.Dublin City University was the host centre for last year’s Go for Life Games national celebration and it is hoped that for 2015 that Donegal will have a representative team.Further information on the programme is available from Karen Guthrie, Community Sports Development Officer at Donegal Sports Partnership and also via the Age and Opportunity web page www.ageandopportunity.ie DONEGAL SPORTS PARTNERSHIP LAUNCH ‘GO FOR LIFE GAMES’ IN INISHOWEN was last modified: October 31st, 2014 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:DONEGAL SPORTS PARTNERSHIPFeaturesGet go gamesnewsNoticesSport
Glenn Hoddle has told the Press Association he would like to return to Chelsea but accepts they will probably appoint another foreign manager.Hoddle had a three-year spell as Blues boss during the mid-1990s before leaving to manage England. The 54-year-old said: “I did a good job when I was there and a lot of Chelsea fans actually say when I meet them ‘thanks for what you did because we started something there’.“Chelsea hadn’t done much for 27 years and they could start to see the progression that was coming very quickly. It has obviously been taken on since Ken Bates was chairman and [former vice-chairman] Matthew Harding died.“It has been taken on with new owners and the rest is history, but I think they will go foreign.”Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebook

The claims have since been rescinded, but it did open a huge debate on DMCA practices. The DMCA notice also had the films own trailer removed. You can read more about this mess at Geek. In view of soaring petrol and diesel prices, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday asked its senior alliance partner BJP to ensure citizens have a stable life even if it cannot bring “acche din” (good days) for them.Details of rising fuel prices in the NDA government’s tenure should also be displayed along with the PM’s photos in the petrol pumps, the Sena said. Petrol prices crossed the ₹78 per litre mark in Delhi for the first time on Tuesday in more than two-and-half months, while diesel was going at ₹69.61 per litre. ‘Acche Din’ was the slogan used by Mr. Modi during the Lok Sabha poll campaign in 2014.“The government has not been able to control the surge in fuel prices. When prices touched an all-time high recently, the Centre intervened. But the public’s happiness was short-lived as prices shot up again,” the Sena said in an editorial written in the party’s mouthpiece Saamana. The government has clarified that fuel prices will not be brought under the Goods and Services Tax (GST), so inexpensive petrol and diesel “will remain a dream”, it said.“What is acche din? People being able to satisfy their needs with minimum money and having spare money with them. Their lives should be stable and their living standards should rise. Of these, what has the government provided in the last four years?” the Sena sought to know.Stating that a few months are left before Mr. Modi’s tenure ends, the Sena asked why the prime minister could not provide stability to the people by reducing fuel prices.“Forget acche din, at least provide stability to the people,” said the Sena, which is an ally of the BJP at the Centre and in Maharashtra.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Saturday taunted the BJP for the delay in announcing candidates for the Indore and Bhopal Lok Sabha seats, both considered its strongholds. He said that the BJP should issue advertisements inviting suitable candidates for the two seats. Senior leader and former CM Digvijaya Singh is the Congress’ nominee from Bhopal while the BJP is yet to announce its candidate. The seat has been held by the BJP since 1989 and the 2014 polls was won by Alok Sanjar who defeated the Congress’ P.C. Sharma by a margin of over 3.70 lakh votes. Indore is represented since 1989 by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. “The BJP is breaking out into a sweat. It should issue an advertisement to find candidates,” Mr. Nath said.On a demand that Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia be fielded from Indore, Mr. Nath said Mr. Scindia’s case was “different”. ‘Different case’“Mr. Scindia is a sitting MP. There is his own area which he has been representing. So his case is different. There is no such question unless he himself takes any decision,” he said.He also predicted that the Congress would win 22 out of 29 LS seats in the State.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Disgusting. Flat. And, now, loafing. They’ve all been used while describing the performance by the New York Jets’ defense Nov. 1 at Oakland. And the criticism has come from the coaches and players themselves.Linebacker David Harris said the film of the 34-20 loss was “disgusting,” while defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson said the defense was “flat” and claimed “guys were loafing.”Coach Todd Bowles has acknowledged he wasn’t happy with his team’s performance, and was asked Wednesday if he noticed some players loafing when he watched the game film.“We had some loafs on defense for the first time this year,” Bowles said. “They were minor loafs, but they were still loafs nonetheless and we have to have everybody to the ball.”The statistical analysis website Pro Football Focus found 19 missed tackles. Bowles and his staff, however, are even tougher graders, with the coach saying their total was “in the 20s.”Bowles attributed the lapses in effort to possible fatigue, but made it clear it’s unacceptable. “Our guys don’t normally loaf,” he said, “and it shouldn’t happen anymore.”The Jets came into the game at Oakland with the No. 2 overall defense. They gave up 451 yards in total offense, including four touchdown throws by Derek Carr. The Raiders took a 28-6 lead early in the third quarter, and the defense did little to keep the Jets in the game.“We’re not saying people were just dogging it all the way to the ball here,” Bowles said. “There might have been somebody getting tackled down the field and somebody pulled up a yard or two from the ball, or not finishing or something like that. It wasn’t loafing like we were just dog tired and we were loafing.“Our guys understand what happened in the game, the coaches understand what happened in the game (and) we’ll work to correct that.”That means the players have gone through the film carefully to see if they can take better angles, wrap up better on tackles or just improve their hustle to the ball. If the players don’t get their acts together at practice this week, Bowles warned, they will be doing extra running. The Jets will certainly have a challenge Nov. 8 at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, led by second-year quarterback Blake Bortles and an offense with some young playmakers in running back T.J. Yeldon and wide receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.“It is one game, and it’s the first time we fell apart like that,” Bowles said. “We have to come back together and it can’t happen again.”(DENNIS WASZAK Jr., AP Sports Writer)TweetPinShare0 Shares

Liverpool ‘Coutinho is a level above Liverpool’s other players’ Tom Maston Last updated 2 years ago 06:34 10/12/17 FacebookTwitterRedditcopy Comments(0) Getty Images Liverpool Philippe Coutinho Liverpool v Manchester United Premier League The Brazil international has come to life in recent weeks and could be joined by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the starting XI against Manchester United Philippe Coutinho is a level above the rest of Liverpool’s squad, according to former Reds defender Dominic Matteo.Having handed in a transfer request amid interest from Barcelona over the summer, Coutinho endured a slow start to the campaign.Reds 7/4 with dabblebet to beat United Article continues below Editors’ Picks Why Barcelona god Messi will never be worshipped in the same way in Argentina Lyon treble & England heartbreak: The full story behind Lucy Bronze’s dramatic 2019 Liverpool v Man City is now the league’s biggest rivalry and the bitterness is growing Megan Rapinoe: Born & brilliant in the U.S.A. But after scoring stunning goals against Leicester City and Newcaste, the Brazil international is hitting top form ahead of Saturday’s clash with rivals Manchester United. And despite the performances of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah so far this campaign, Matteo feels Coutinho remains a step ahead of the rest.”He seems to be a level ahead of even the [Roberto] Firmino’s and the Mane’s, he is one of those players that could easily go into a Barcelona or a Real Madrid as he is that clever and he has got such a good football brain, something that us ex-footballers dreamed of having, he is one step ahead.” he told betsafe.com.”In the Newcastle game, even though we didn’t win, there were flashes in that, the great goal and some of the balls he was putting through.”He is instrumental, he is that little bit of stardust that a lot of teams don’t have, he is a top draw player and hopefully he is winning the Liverpool fans back over with his goals and his performances and we can keep hold of him as he is our best player.”With Mane having been ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury, Coutinho could be joined in the Liverpool starting XI by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with the England midfielder in line to make his first Premier League start since arriving at Anfield. And Matteo believes Oxlade-Chamberlain must show his experience and take some responsibility if he is to establish himself in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up.”I think Oxlade-Chamberlain’s good enough, we’ve only seen bits and pieces of him so far. He needs a run of games, like certain players around the Liverpool set-up, they all need runs of games.”He has got a lot of experience, he played a lot of games for Arsenal as a young player and I think he will be a good player for the squad, whether he will start for Liverpool I am not too sure. When we signed him I was thinking where was going to play?”I think Jurgen Klopp is thinking that we have got the Champions League, which he wants to do well in. He (Klopp) wants to do well in the league as well and we have got the cups.”He is thinking that he is going to have to utilise his squad each week and I think that’s what he’s done, maybe a little too much but we have a decent sized squad.”As a player, these are the games that you want to be starting and if he does start on the weekend this is the game he needs to stand up and be counted. To show Liverpool fans that he is here and he means business.”Read the full betsafe.com interview with Dominic Matteo & Gary Pallister, including why pressure is building on Klopp at Anfield.
