The band also tackled “Like An Inca” (from Young’s 1982 album Trans) in the encore slot, laying into the band with tight improv for just its second outing since 1982. You can watch fan-shot video of “Old Man” and “Like An Inca” from the Paris show below, courtesy of YouTube users Gerard Rallo and Jean-Paul Pelicant:“Old Man”:“Like An Inca” encore:last_img read more

first_imgAsheville, NC-based dance rock band The Fritz has been steadily gaining steam since their formation in 2010. The five-piece band—consisting of guitarist Jamie Hendrickson, bassist Jake O’ Connor, drummer Michael Tillis, vocalist/ keyboardist Jamar Woods, and percussionist Mikey “Spice” Evans—take on an aggressive approach to funk, soul, and rock, creating a sound that is uniquely their own with high-energy and groovy dance tracks. With powerful vocals, climactic solos, and tight grooves, The Fritz has built a devoted following as they captivate audiences across the country. In October 2018, the quintet released their latest studio effort, ECHO, recorded at Asheville’s Echo Mountain Recording Studios. The LP features Trey Anastasio Band’s Natalie Cressman on trombone, and Snarky Puppy’s Chris Bullock and Justin Stanton on trumpet and saxophone. In February, The Fritz were on the road supporting Baltimore-based funk quartet Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. While on tour, the quintet celebrated a special homecoming show at The Orange Peel in Asheville. During their noteworthy opening set, The Fritz delivered an exploratory 10-minute rendition of “Stuck in Between”. Backed by a prominent bass line and tight-knit groove behind the kit, The Fritz’s recent take on “Stuck in Between” hits all of the feels. The track has a slight ’80s disco vibe highlighted by Jamar Woods’ funky work on the synth. Moving out of the song’s intro, Woods takes a soulful lead on vocals as the sold-out Asheville crowd boogies along.  Before crashing back into the chorus, Hendrickson soars off into hyperspace with an ever-evolving guitar solo, backed by his faithful bandmates pushing him on.Today, Live For Live Music is pleased to debut The Fritz’s pro-shot video for “Stuck in Between”. Woods explains,It’s always a pleasure playing in our hometown.  The crowd has great energy and trusts us so we can take chances and play off what they’re giving to us.  And having our friends at IAMAVL.com being able to come out and shoot this video to commemorate the occasion just adds to the hometown feel. You can check out the Live For Live Music premiere of  The Fritz’s new “Stuck in Between” video below:The Fritz – “Stuck in Between” – Live at The Orange Peel[Video: The Fritz]The Fritz has a busy 2019 ahead of them including festival appearances at Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s Domefest, Suwannee Rising, Tom Tom Festival, and Sustain With Sound Festival.
